The Art of Ping Pong 2015 is well under way, following our friends from FiveFootSix putting on one hell of a party at KK Outlet on November 5th. This is the third year of the charity auction featuring 21 bespoke ping pong paddles with all proceeds going to BBC’s Children in Need. After getting a sneak peak of the artworks (and because we love any
excuse for our Italian and UK offices to be one big happy family) we flew our Avellino office to London for a week to join in on the fun, and help put the finishing touches on the Art of Ping Pong website & app we created to help Fivefootsix raise as much money as ping-pongingly possible.
Can’t make it down to Hoxton Square to be guided around the customised paddles by the Beacon-enhanced app we created with the help of the guys at Graffiti 2000? With 21 clever works from artists like Anthony Burrill, Malika Favre and a very talented student from London Met’s CASS faculty of art and design, well… you’re kind of missing out!
The app pushes information to your iPhone on the artists and how to bid on each bat, and cleverly knows which one you are standing in front of.
It’s kind of like a less-dorky version of the audio-guides you pay £5 for at museums, and it’s free to download. The app also includes exclusive discounts on The Art of Ping Pong 2015 publications available from KK Outlet thanks to Fedrigoni and Colt Press.
If you’re far away and nobody is offering to fly you to Hoxton like our Avellino Rollers, the games continue online. Our designers and developers volunteered their services in aid of BBC’s Children in Need to create a beautiful bespoke bidding platform so you can win one of the artworks no matter where you are - simply download the Art of Ping Pong 2015 app, or visit theartofpingpong.co.uk.
Auction ends 30th November 2015 - the ball’s in your court, so get bidding!
